Barcode Application News

How to verify the content of a barcoded asset identification tag
The Validator
is a function on a mobile unit helps ensure that asset ID tags are
set up correctly when installing a
new system or upgrading an existing system.
Part of the set up involves the application of tags bearing a unique identifier (usually in
barcoded format), and
relating that tag to the relevant information in a database. Sounds easy. To help with this
process, SageData Solutions have introduced
the Validator
.
This application enables confirmation of the work being done as it
progresses
during the set up of a
new system. The Validator can check the readability of the tags, and a variety of other
attributes. It helps confirm
that the labelling is to specification, and reduces the risk of error in reports from the
system.

Snow Dump Site Management Solution
Would you like to run an efficient snow dump site?
SageData offers a show dump site
management solution based on unique barcoded tickets and ruggedized mobile scanner
technology. Personnel at the entry
gate does not need to divide their attention between interacting with the drivers and making
entries
on paper or a computer.
This solution also solves the truck entry bottleneck - a quick scan of a pre-issued ticket will
grant
an entry to the truck.
Our software incorporates multiple load sizes to accommodate
different trucks. Various reports
are available and accessible over the Internet.

We have lost our dear friend
This to let you know that Doreen Garvin passed away on Monday, July 03.
Doreen was one of the founders, and one of the key personnel in SageData.
Without Doreen, there would have been no SageData, no BassetPro, and no asset management and
other systems for our clients.
We joked sometimes that John was the President, but that Doreen was the Boss.
That was always more true than we realized.
Doreen is sadly missed.

Software for a Small Warehouse
Software is the key to running an efficient warehouse. If the warehouse is new, or if
it has been running without
software, you have an opportunity to make everything better. But there are a lot of choices, and
some room for error...
SageData have been in the physical asset management business for more
than twenty years.
Our modular approach ensures greater flexibility that allows clients to adjust software to their
warehousing needs...

Premium Asset Tag - a High-quality Micro Barcode Label
SageData has developed a new, premium barcode tag for your tracking needs - very small,
stronger
adhesive, scuff
resistant surface. And it is attractive too...
Taking up 0.275 square inches, these barcodes are perfect for your smallest
applications.
These
labels have an excellent adhesive, as well as a protective cover, which improves the longevity
of the tag.

RFID Temperature Logging
Check out our new
mini-video about an RFID-based temperature logging and
reporting.
There are currently
three different ways to track temperature: RFID HF, RFID UHF, and BLE - Bluetooth Low Energy.
Each have their strengths.
This video briefly describes each approach, its advantages and disadvantages.
Please let us know if we could set up a reliable temperature logging and reporting system
to address your business needs.

Documents tracking using RFID - update
We are happy to announce availability of an updated RFID tracking solution for
documents,
files, folders and archives.
The updated system uses Android OS based mobile data
collectors.
Mobile readers allow for extra flexibility and convenience. By adjusting RFID signal reading
range,
an employee can quickly narrow down the location of the document of interest.

Artificial intelligence for Warehouse Management System (WMS)
We are planning to introduce new technology for the implementation of our next WMS (Warehouse Management System) in Ottawa. SageData already have RFID in use in existing WMS systems, but are introducing some artificial intelligence to work around some of the restrictions related to current RFID implementations.

Self Diagnostic Bot
SageData Solutions has implemented a self-diagnostic bot to help reducing the Mean Time
To
Recover (MTTR) when a client experiences a system error.
Due to security reasons, many of
our
clients have our software installed and running on their own servers. When they experience a
failure, the main challenge for our support
engineers is to access the data located on client's server.
To address this challenge, we developed a self diagnostic bot.

performance
barcode applications.

Emma - the Backend System Emulator
Potential clients frequently inquire whether the SageData BassetPro system is able to
integrate with their existing backend system (for example SAP). The answer is YES, we
can do it.
We have done it many times ensuring that the BassetPro and the backend systems
can
pass
information back and forth. Moreover, there are no changes to the client system or
their existing processes because SageData adapts the BassetPro interface to the existing system.
Our new flexible backend system emulator - Emma will help us to ensure that the
inter-system interfaces are
developed quickly and tested thoroughly.

emulator.

SKU vs. UIC
One may happily live their entire life without knowing the difference between a SKU and
a UIC,
but not if you are in
(or about to enter) the inventory management, or fixed asset management world. SKU stands for
Stock Keeping
Unit and UIC stands
for Unique Identification Code. The difference between them is important to understand when
considering the
solution to your
tracking needs.
The key question is whether you want to track individual items, which are usually high value and
serialized
(example, a laptop
computer), or whether you just want to track by what an item is, usually low value and not
serialized, like
a AA Battery. The
laptop will be tracked with a UIC (Unique Identification Code). The AA battery will be
tracked with a
SKU (Stock Keeping
Unit). The SKU tells you what it is, but not which one it is. The UIC tells you which one it is,
and, of
course, what it is.
Asset Management, Warehouse Management, Stock Management and other areas of Physical Items
Management may
require either UICs or
SKUs or even both. Do you need to know the exact
item that was given out or do you need
to know the
type of item but not
the specific one?
Click here find out more about item level
tracking
and whether
UIC or SKU, (or both) is the best option for your application.

The Bill of Lading
Exciting news - SageData Solutions is now offering an electronic Bill of Lading to help
the
businesses to keep track
of their valuable assets. The Bill of Lading can be one of the most important documents in the
system. It
tracks everything that
leaves the premises, capturing what left, when it left, who took it, and who loaded it. And it
can be an
essential tool to manage
the transfer or responsibility, from the warehouse to the carrier.

of Lading.
