There are many reasons to track "things". Sometimes because they are valuable, sometimes because they are dangerous. Sometimes because it is important that we can find them quickly when we need them later.

Over the years, SDS has been asked to track many things, IT equipment, Weapons, Documents, Trees, Stained Glass Windows, Snow (yes). One of the key issues is the selection of an appropriate technology.

This video gives you an overview of some of the more common tracking technologies, including barcodes, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and BLE - Bluetooth Low Energy. (This latter technology named after a Viking.  Strange but true.)
